Seven, those ruffles look terrific. Thank you for this thread. It makes me sad when ex-JWs get overwhelmed by the external parts of Christmas and start to wonder if maybe Christmas isn't all it is cracked up to be. Like anything else, it can be great or awful, it is up to each of us.
This recipe for "Nuts and Bolts" is fairly light on the onion and garlic to make it easier on my husband's digestive system
Alberta Nuts and Bolts
1 small box each of Cheerios
Shreddies
Crispix or Corn Bran
1 Bag of Stick Pretzels
1 can of Mixed Nuts or more if you are nutty
In a saucepan or microwave, melt gently and combine with :
1 1/2 cups margarine
1 1/2 tsp worcestershire sauce
1 tsp tabasco sauce
1 tsp seasoning salt
1 tsp garlic power
1 1/2 tsp onion powder
1 1/2 tsp salt
Drizzle this mixture over the cereal/pretzel/nut mix and stir well . Put large roasters (I use my turkery roasting pan and large chicken pan). Bake 1 and 1/2 hours at 250 degree, stirring well every 20 to 30 minutes.
Let cool completely and package in air tight containers or zip loc bags.
I have frozen the completed bags in an effort ot keep my family out of them. Now, we have developed a taste for frozen nuts and bolts.
